I wrote this post to clear all the doubts related to Snapdragon 660 vs Snapdragon 636. Both the chipsets are powerful as well as power-efficient and are built on 14nm tech.
Snapdragon 636
Snapdragon-636 just made its debut with the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Snapdragon-636 is built on 14nm. Its a slightly lower variant of Snapdragon-660. Looking at the in-depth most of the specifications are same, the main difference is the clock frequency of Kyro cores and the GPU.

Snapdragon 660
Now, let’s address the Big dog in the room or the powerful Dragon of the 600 Series, The Snapdragon 660.
The Snapdragon-660 is a successor to Snapdragon-653 from 2016, Snapdragon 653 was equipped on the Redmi note 3.
The Snapdragon-660 was announced in May 2017. The Snapdragon 660 is the slightly powerful than the Snapdragon 636.
