Oppo and OnePlus are both brother companies. Last year OnePlus 5 was the exact copy of Oppo R11, Both of them looked the same but OnePlus 5 had the flagship specs. This year again there are leaks surrounding that OnePlus 6 will look exactly the same as Oppo R15 but only difference are the vertical placement of the camera in OnePlus and an alert slider.

Full-screen OLED display with a notch for camera and sensor, Upgraded rear camera, the most attractive feature is the glass back.

Let’s Talk about the Oppo R15 Features

Full-screen 19:9 display with an I-phone style notch

The OPPO R15 is equipped with a 6.28-inch OLED screen with an aspect ratio of 19:9, a resolution of 2280×1080, and a PPI of 401.

Oppo has gone with the ugly trend and kept the screen as close to the physical edges and for camera and sensor, there is a notch that is not as big as an iPhone and not that small as an Essential phone.

Notch is on trend this year and “Hell yes” Oppo has followed this trend. The Screen to body ratio is 90%.

The screen is Samsungs patented AMOLED panel with good display quality. Its contrast max is 400 nits, Screen quality is good but not that great.

As the screen is full, we need to mention two optimizations that R15 does for a full screen: gestures and full-screen multitasking.

Glass Back

Previously Oppo used to have all metal design but this year with Oppo R15 they have glass design. Personally, I don’t prefer the glass at the back because its prone to break but it is useful if a smartphone has a wireless charging ex- Samsung S9.

Oppo R15 Front and Rear Glass are Gorilla Glass 5, and they all had oleophobic layers.

oleophobic layers– It helps prevent scratches and is a fingerprint-resistant also.

At present, Oppo R15 has announced a total of 5 color combinations, namely, Snow White, Hot Red, Star Purple, Dream Mirror Red, and Ceramic Black. The first three kinds of color rear lids use 2.5D glass, and Dream Red uses a greater curvature. The 3D glass, ceramic black is further upgraded to 4 curved material.

Talking about the camera specification it has a dual 16 MP (f/1.7, 1/2.6″, 1.22 µm, PDAF) + 5 MP (f/2.2), phase detection autofocus and a LED flash. And a secondary or front camera is 20 MP with f/2.0.

Primary camera can record 4k at 30fps

Camera sensors use IMX519 from sony and also uses AI to capture good photos.

Processor or Chipset : MediaTek P60 / SD 660, 6GB + 128GB Storage

On the SoC, OPPO R15 offers the MediaTek Helio P60 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660.

MediaTek Helio P60 is based on TSMC 12nm process, and the CPU has 4 A-73 cores and 4 A-53 cores. The highest frequency is At 2.0GHz, the GPU is a 3-core Mali-G72.

More importantly, the Helio P60 supports a multi-core artificial intelligence processor APU, which can have better performance than GPU in facial recognition, scene recognition, etc. This is why the Oppo R15 camera can add multiple AI-related functions.

In terms of battery life, Helio P60 version of Oppo r15 is 3,450 mAh, and the Snapdragon 660 version has a slightly smaller capacity due to the curved surface design, which is 3400 mAh. In addition, it also supports VOOC flash charging “5 minutes of charging gives 2 hours of usage”. The specification is 5V 4A, and the “Ancestral” Micro USB interface is also reserved yes there is no Type C port.

The price of the three versions is RS 31000 (2.5D back cover, Helio P60), RS 34000 (3D back cover, Snapdragon 660), RS 36000. (Ceramic back cover, Snapdragon 660).
